Citi Center Takeover Mural: Progress is Beautiful

New York City never stops moving—and neither does Citi. For over 200 years, Citi has been part of the city’s rhythm, helping drive progress locally and globally. As the new Citi Center at 734 Lexington was preparing to open, we turned the construction site into a bold visual statement that garnered buzz and brought Citi’s story to life.

Progress is Beautiful captures the energy of NYC through a mural by Fernando "Ski" Romero, a Queens-based graffiti artist known for blending archival architectural photography with vibrant, hand-painted graffiti. The artwork highlights pivotal moments from Citi’s history—focusing not just on events, but their lasting impact—to show how Citi has always driven progress. Grounded in real stories and archival content, the installation reflects Citi’s values of inclusion, innovation, and community, reminding New Yorkers that Citi isn’t just in the city—it’s part of it.

To bring the story to life even further, we interviewed Ski and followed him around the city and during the mural installation, capturing footage to create social content that promotes the project and builds excitement leading up to the grand opening.

In a city full of banks, this is our chance to stand out and show what Citi really stands for: progress, in every sense of the word.
